Kids petrol buggy: the 4-wheel off-roader for a safe start

A kids buggy is the ideal way to introduce your child to motorised off-road riding. Its enclosed body, seated driving position with pedals and seatbelt make it a more reassuring alternative to a dirt bike or quad, especially for beginners.

Which kids buggy should you choose?

  • GoKid 80cc petrol: compact, reliable Lifan engine, ideal for discovering buggy riding with ease.
  • Buggy 98cc Gokid: more power for kids already comfortable riding.
  • Gokart Buggy 125cc: the top of the range, for a complete, sporty riding experience.
  • Forest PRM 212cc automatic: automatic gearbox, maximum riding comfort.

Kids buggy or kids quad: what's the difference?

A kids buggy differs from a quad through its enclosed bodywork, seatbelt and seated driving position with pedals (throttle and brake), similar to a car. This setup is generally more reassuring for parents and works especially well for children just starting out off-road.

Safety: the key points

All our buggies come with a seatbelt and protective roll bar. A helmet, gloves and protective gear are still recommended. Adult supervision is required at all times.

What age is a petrol kids buggy suitable for?

Our petrol buggies are generally suitable from age 6-7 for the 80cc models, up to 10-12 years old for the more powerful 125cc models. The deciding factor is whether the child can properly operate the throttle and brake pedals while keeping control of the steering wheel.

Manual or automatic: which transmission to choose?

For a child new to buggy riding, an automatic gearbox (like on the Forest PRM 212cc) makes riding much simpler: no gear changes to manage, full focus on steering and terrain.

1. What's the minimum age for a petrol kids buggy?
80cc models are generally suitable from age 6-7, more powerful 125cc models up to age 10-12. The deciding factor is the child's ability to safely handle the pedals and steering wheel.
2. Is a kids buggy safer than a quad?
A buggy offers stronger safety thanks to its enclosed body, seatbelt and roll bar, unlike a quad where the child is more exposed.
3. Automatic or manual for a beginner?
Automatic (like the Forest PRM 212cc) is recommended for beginners: the child focuses purely on steering, without managing gear changes.
4. Are these buggies road legal?
No, all our kids buggies are intended exclusively for use on private land.
5. What extra safety gear is recommended?
Even though the bodywork offers more protection than a quad, a helmet, gloves and protective gear are still recommended, along with constant adult supervision.
