50cc Scooter
50cc scooter: AM licence, 45 km/h maximum
The 50cc scooter is the motorised two-wheeler for short trips: speed limited to 45 km/h, AM licence, easy riding in town. It is also the first scooter for many teenagers, within the minimum age each country sets.
Which trips suit a 50cc?
The 50cc suits the neighbourhood, the commute within town and small roads at moderate speed. Limited to 45 km/h, it is not made for fast roads: if your route includes any, look at the 125cc scooter. Without petrol, the electric scooter as a 50cc equivalent is the other option.
What to check before buying
Check the road approval and the engine type: a four-stroke needs oil changes, a two-stroke uses mixed oil or oil from a separate lubrication system. Look at the seat height, the weight (you move it by hand), the brakes and the storage under the seat. Helmet, gloves and clothing are chosen before the first ride: see the helmets.
