50cc dirt bike for kids NRG50 14/12 petrol 2-stroke

A 50cc 2-stroke engine with 9 HP: the powerful 50cc dirt bike for kids

The heart of this 50cc dirt bike beats to the rhythm of an air-cooled 2-stroke engine, designed for reactive acceleration without overheating, even during the most intense sessions. With 9 horsepower, it propels the NRG50 to 50 km/h (adjustable via the kill switch for novices), while staying easy to control thanks to its automatic clutch. No risk of stalling: the kickstarter guarantees instant ignition, even after a fall. For optimal durability, we recommend a 1:20 fuel/oil mixture (see our maintenance guide). XtremRS tip: after 5 hours of use, check the spark plug and oil level.

Steel frame and adjustable suspension: the stability of a real 50cc dirt bike

The NRG50 14/12" stands out with its treated steel frame, which boosts resistance to corrosion and impacts. The telescopic front forks (30 mm diameter) and the adjustable rear mono-shock absorb vibrations and jumps with precision, offering comfort even on rough terrain. The ergonomic seat (61 cm height) and aluminium handlebars (66 cm width) ensure a natural riding position. At just 39.8 kg, this kids' dirt bike is highly manoeuvrable and supports up to 60 kg. Tested in real conditions on XtremRS partner circuits (such as La Roche-en-Brenil).

Racing exhaust of the 50cc dirt bike for kids NRG50

Racing exhaust: the sound and performance of a 2-stroke 50cc dirt bike

The NRG50's competition exhaust isn't just about style: its optimised design improves gas evacuation, slightly boosting power at high revs while producing a deep, motivating sound. Made of stainless steel, it resists rust and high temperatures. Unlike entry-level models, it is fixed with reinforced clamps to prevent vibrations. For bigger teens it makes a genuine transition model (see also our motorbikes for teens category). XtremRS safety tip: regularly check the fixings and clean the silencer with a damp cloth.

Protected chain: safety and longevity of your 50cc kids' dirt bike

The high-resistance chain transmission (with hardened steel sprockets) is fully protected by a reinforced plastic casing, removing the risk of injury or snagging. This sealed system also keeps out dust and mud, reducing premature wear. Unlike cheap 50cc dirt bikes, the NRG50 uses an industrial-quality chain (identical to those on 110cc models), factory-greased. Recommended maintenance: lubricate the chain after each ride with specific 2-stroke grease (available in our accessories shop). "A well-maintained chain lasts 3 times longer", says our chief mechanic.

Reinforced swingarm of the 50cc dirt bike NRG50

Reinforced swingarm: road holding of a 50cc dirt bike worthy of a 110cc

The NRG50's rear swingarm has been redesigned with a thickened tubular steel structure, offering more rigidity without adding weight. This often-neglected component is crucial for cornering stability and shock absorption. The sealed bearings (dust-proof) guarantee smooth rotation over thousands of kilometres. Combined with the adjustable rear shock, the swingarm lets you tune seat height and firmness to your child's weight and riding style. Field test: on the bumps of the Venarey-les-Laumes circuit, the NRG50 showed road holding worthy of a 110cc.

Front/rear disc brakes: safety at the heart of the 50cc dirt bike

Safety is at the heart of the NRG50 14/12", with a disc braking system (∅180 mm front, ∅160 mm rear) far more effective than the drum brakes of cheap 50cc dirt bikes. The hydraulic calipers offer perfect progressivity, avoiding the abrupt lock-ups that could unbalance a young rider. The semi-metallic pads resist overheating, even after repeated downhill braking. Hence the importance of adjusting lever sensitivity (tools included) for small hands, and equipping your child with an approved helmet. See our safety guide for more.

Kill switch and adjustable throttle of the 50cc dirt bike NRG50

Kill switch and adjustable throttle: parental control over the 50cc dirt bike

The NRG50 includes two essential devices for parents: the magnetic kill switch (mounted on the handlebars) instantly stops the engine in case of danger, even from a distance; the adjustable throttle limits maximum power (ideal for beginners). These features, often absent on cheap 50cc dirt bikes, make the NRG50 a responsible choice. Our advice: start at 50% power for the first few days, then increase gradually. Also discover our protective gear recommendations (helmet, back protector, gloves).

50cc dirt bike for kids NRG50 14/12 available at XtremRS
1. Is this 50cc dirt bike for kids suitable for a beginner?
Yes, the NITRO MOTORS NRG50 is designed for children and beginners. With its 50cc 2-stroke engine (9 HP) and speed adjustable up to 50 km/h, it offers power suited to learning safely. Its automatic clutch and kickstarter simplify use. Full protective gear (helmet, gloves, back protector) and adult supervision remain essential.
2. What age or size for this 50cc dirt bike?
Suitable from age 6 and up to around 12-14 depending on build. Key criteria: minimum height ~1.20 m (seat at 61 cm), recommended maximum weight 60 kg. Ideally the child should be able to put their feet flat on the ground.
3. Is the NRG50 road-legal?
No, the NRG50 is not road-legal. It is intended for off-road use only: motocross circuits, private tracks or closed grounds (with authorisation). For public roads, a homologated bike with plate and insurance would be required.
4. What maintenance does this 2-stroke engine need?
Essential points: 1:20 fuel/oil mixture (1 L of oil per 20 L of SP95/98), chain lubrication after each ride, inspection of disc and pad wear, regular air-filter cleaning, and tyre-pressure checks. Wear parts (chain, tyres, pads) are not covered by the warranty.
5. Is the bike delivered assembled?
The NRG50 is delivered 90% assembled (engine, frame, fork, wheels, handlebars fitted). To assemble: final handlebar fixing, brake adjustment, any protections. Tools: Allen keys (4/5/6 mm), wrench, screwdriver. Allow 30-45 minutes; an illustrated manual is included.
6. What is the noise level?
Fitted with a sport exhaust, the NRG50 produces a powerful sound typical of motocross bikes (about 90-95 dB), higher than a standard 50cc. Use it only on tracks or isolated terrain to avoid disturbance in residential areas. Some circuits require noise limiters (check locally).
7. Can the power be limited for a beginner?
Yes: the adjustable throttle limits maximum power, and a carburettor adjustment (by a professional) can soften acceleration. Restriction kits are also compatible. Note: an incorrectly performed modification can void the warranty.
8. What's the difference with an electric kids' motocross bike?
The petrol NRG50 offers constant power (9 HP), long range (fuel tank) and the sound of a real motocross bike, but needs regular maintenance (mixture, lubrication) and is loud. An electric model is quieter and maintenance-free for the motor, but limited in range and feel. Choose by use: petrol for endurance and thrills, electric for quietness and simplicity.
